Adding to Sydney's diversity of housing
It is envisaged the housing will attract a range of residents, including older people, couples, families, students and key workers, creating a diverse social fabric.
In line with the Project Team's proven track record of delivering innovative, high-quality and modern design, the 1,500 new dwellings will offer thoughtful urban living spaces with accessible and adaptable features to meet an increasingly sophisticated set of housing needs.
These new apartments will help meet the Sydney Metropolitan Strategy’s sub-regional target to provide 48,000 new homes in Inner Sydney by 2031.
Landcom, Mirvac and Leighton Properties are currently investigating a host of housing affordability initiatives which could form part of the Town Centre. Housing for key workers, such as nurses, technicians, teachers and police, is one way the site could contribute to affordable inner city living.
A mix of one, two and three bedroom units will be provided across the Core Town Sites in high quality, well designed buildings. Buildings will be set back from the edge of the site, with landscaping along the borders of existing residential areas. Buildings will be designed to maximise solar access and minimise overshadowing on existing homes and public places.
Residential buildings will be integrated with the surrounding community to create a sense of social inclusion and add to the new urban dynamic.
