Rationale

Sydney’s Metropolitan Strategy has recognized the need to accommodate a large part of Sydney’s future growth within existing urban areas.

Sydney’s Inner South has long been earmarked as an area with the potential to accommodate new residents and workers. The Inner South’s strategic location is seen as the ideal place to create a sustainable new community, where residents and workers can enjoy a high level of amenity.

The Metropolitan Strategy has identified Green Square Town Centre as a ‘Planned Major Centre’, which will support a larger population in the surrounding areas. It will be the cultural and community heart for the Inner South – a place where residents and workers can shop, relax and enjoy a range of entertainment.

The Green Square Town Centre represents the Metropolitan Strategy in action, delivering new communities and employment centres that are economically, environmentally and socially sustainable.
