Creating a community through partnerships and education

Place-making and community-building initiatives will create a connected village community at Green Square Town Centre in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.

Some initiatives include:

• Appointing a Place Manager to co-ordinate community development activities during the first four years of residents moving in

• Partnering with local organisations to deliver community and social programs

• Implementing a ‘Welcome Program’ and providing key community information to all new residents

• Providing a bicycle to each new household to support sustainable and healthy transport options

• Consulting with independent experts such as City Futures Institute, UNESCO Growing Up in Cities Project, Heart Foundation and UTS Designing Out Crime Unit to ensure safe, healthy and inclusive design

• Fostering training and development through existing corporate programs, including:

o Leighton Indigenous Program to provide apprenticeships and other opportunities during the construction of Green Square

o Mirvac School of Sustainability at Bond University to sponsor graduate research programs in association with the development of Green Square.
