Demolition

On 27 July 2007, Landcom submitted to the City of Sydney a Development Application (DA) to demolish the Waterloo Incinerator. On 2 October 2007, Development Consent was granted by the City of Sydney.

Landcom has awarded the contract for the demolition to Metropolitan Demolitions Group. Works to demolish the Incinerator commenced in December 2007 and will take approximately 6 months and should be completed by mid 2008.

The proposed works include demolishing the main Incinerator building, the chimney stack, a number of underground pits and all other associated plant, equipment and structures.

The approval also involves bulk earthworks to grade and level the site following demolition, as well as the removal of all trees expect for those along Portman Lane.
